Samsung Announces Their New Windows 8 Lineup.

With Windows 8 only 10 days away, Microsoft partners (and Microsoft themselves) are beginning to prepare their offerings and announce them to the world.
Logitech last week announced several peripheral devices meant to bring the world of touch and gesture-based computing to PCs everywhere.
Yesterday, Microsoft themselves announced Xbox Music, a streaming and subscription service which aims to tie PCs, Windows 8 Phones, Windows 8 tablets and the Xbox console together with a common musical thread.
Samsung also trotted out their own Windows 8 offerings yesterday, announcing a full product lineup of their new, Windows 8 ready laptops, tablets, and “Smart PCs,” a sort of laptop/tablet fusion which runs an operating system already meant to make these two experiences as similar as possible.
Speaking to a crowd of reporters before unveiling their latest, head of Samsung America’s consumer electronics, Tim Baxter, said, “Tablets and smartphones are ushering in a new era of computing mobility.”
“The Smart PC is a new category driven by innovation and UI, with Windows 8 as the lynch pin,” Baxter said.
First, Samsung’s 13-inch Series 5 Ultra Touch Ultrabook is available in two different touchscreen variations: The first is comes with a Core i3 processor, 4 GB of RAM, a 500 GB hard drive and an $809.99 price tag. For $50 more, Samsung customers can get the exact same configuration with a Core i5 replacing the i3.
Elsewhere in the Windows 8-read lineup for Samsung are Series 3, 7 and 9 laptops in varying configurations and naming conventions.
The entry level Series 3 Notebook will run anywhere from $450 to $900, depending on how well it’s stocked inside.
The 15” Series 7 Notebook will arrive with a $1,100 price tag, while the superior-sounding Series 9 Premium Ultrabook will start at $1,400 for a 15” screen and $1,300 for a 13”.
Samsung is also releasing their own All-In-One desktop PCs, ready for Windows 8’s dual-environment OS. The Series 5 All-In-One will start at $800 for a 21.5 inch display, while the Series 7 All-In-One will run $1,700 for a 27” and $1,100 for a 23.6” display.
The Ativ Smart PCs are causing the most buzz as a hybrid mashup between 2 different styles of computing.
The cheapest of these two Ativ Smart PCs is the Pro 500T, which starts at $650 without the keyboard, which essentially makes it a heavy yet well-equipped tablet. For one hundred dollars more, Samsung customers can buy the detachable keyboard for the 500T and get the full hybrid experience. The 500T Ativ boasts an Atom Z2760 processor with 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.
The 700T series of the Ativ Smart PC starts at $1,200 and ships with an Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
Samsung did not announce any tablets which will run Windows RT, a “lite” version of Windows 8, which will run on an ARM chip. Any tablet running Windows 8 RT will presumably ship at a lower price.
Windows 8 begins shipping on October 26th, so while some of these new Samsung devices are available now, the rest should become available shortly after the 26th release date.
